The Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) has declared 2025 as the “Year of Real Estate,” emphasizing the sector’s crucial role in Pakistan’s economic revival. The announcement was made during a pre-launch event for an upcoming real estate expo at the S.M. Muneer Auditorium, attended by business leaders, policymakers, and key industry stakeholders.
ICCI President Nasir Mansoor Qureshi highlighted that the real estate sector, valued at over $2 trillion, is one of the country’s largest contributors to employment and business opportunities. He stressed that revitalizing the industry would not only benefit private enterprises but also provide a significant boost to government revenues.
Chairman of the Founder Group ICCI, Tariq Sadiq, addressed the challenges posed by excessive taxation on real estate transactions, welcoming recent government recognition of these issues. He expressed optimism that policy changes, including the potential removal of the Federal Excise Duty on property transactions, would encourage greater investment.
Sardar Tahir Mehmood, a member of the Prime Minister’s Task Force for the Development of Housing, reiterated the government’s commitment to introducing investor-friendly policies. He referenced Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s recent statement on easing financial constraints in the real estate sector to stimulate growth.
A key moment of the event was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between ICCI and TopCity-1, formalizing their collaboration for the upcoming expo. ICCI Secretary-General Ghulam Murtaza Siddiqui and Brigadier Sikandar Khan (R) signed the agreement, aiming to bring together industry leaders, investors, and policymakers to explore real estate trends and opportunities.
ICCI Senior Vice President Abdul Rehman Siddiqui concluded the event by reaffirming ICCI’s commitment to fostering an investor-friendly business environment. He emphasized the chamber’s role in eliminating barriers and driving economic prosperity through strategic industry collaborations.
