Following the directives of the Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad, the district administration Friday has stepped up its price control and consumer protection operations across the district, particularly during the holy month of Ramazan under the Provincial Government’s Good Governance Roadmap.
Assistant Director Consumer Protection Farhat Khan took action against several well-known brands for violations of consumer protection laws. Alkaram Studio was fined Rs. 50,000 for charging customers for branded shopping bags, while Stylo Shoes and Clive Cosmetics were penalized for selling products without clearly mentioning manufacturing and expiry dates. Officials reiterated that charging for logo-printed shopping bags and selling items without MFG and expiry details are punishable offenses under the law.
Meanwhile, Price Control Magistrates, under the special instructions of the Deputy Commissioner, continued market inspections and addressed complaints received through the Price Monitoring Desk.
Additional Assistant Commissioner Kamran Ali Shah, accompanied by his team, visited Main Mansehra Road where a meat shop was sealed for violating the official price list and hygiene standards. Several individuals were also taken into custody during the operation.
