The total liquid foreign reserves of Pakistan increased to US$ 12,855.7 million while the reserves held by the central bank reached at $ 7,757.1 million in the week ended on December 22, 2023.

Pakistani Rupee on Friday witnessed the 9th consecutive recovery session as it gained 26 Paisa against the US Dollar in the Interbank trading and closed at Rs.282.52 against the previous day’s closing of Rs.282.78.

Current Account Deficit declines to $1.6Billion in 5 months: SBP
The Current Account Deficit (CAD) has significantly slid down to $1.16 billion during the first five months of current fiscal year as compared to the deficit of $3.26 billion during the same period of last year, State Bank of Pakistan reported.
State Bank to Maintain the policy rate at 22%
Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) decided to maintain the policy rate at 22 percent. The decision does take into account the impact of the recent hike in gas prices on inflation in November, which was relatively higher than the MPC’s earlier expectation.
