Pakistan’s largest Data Hackathon, Jazz digital squad, ends on high note
The National University of Sciences & Technology (NUST) has won Pakistan’s largest Data Hackathon, the Jazz Digital Squad, which concluded. The top five teams presented their datasets at the finale that included Bhit Datawits from IBA, Data Dazzlers from LUMS, Team Luna from FAST NUCES, Data Dragons from IBA, and The Data Aficionados from NUST.

LUMS’s 36th convocation of students graduation ceremony
LUMS recently celebrated the graduation of 1,407 scholars at the University’s 36th Convocation. Surrounded by proud family, friends, and faculty, the students from LUMS’ five schools received their degrees at separate commencement ceremonies held for graduate and undergraduate students.
LUMS Hosts 2nd Symposium on Battery Electric Vehicles in Pakistan
LUMS hosted the 2nd Symposium on Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) in Pakistan in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan, World Bank, and the International Finance Corporation (IFC). Focused on ‘Accelerating the Electric Mobility Transition in Pakistan’ this year, the symposium brought together senior leaders, policymakers, academics, and industry experts. The event featured distinguished speaker sessions and panel discussions on progress, challenges, and ways for electrification of transportation in the country in line with global trends.
Global Entrepreneurship Conference at LUMS Fosters Innovation and Collaboration
LUMS Centre for Entrepreneurship (LCE) partnered with IDEA Lab at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the non-profit Umeed, to host a three-day global event from March 4 – 6, 2024. The MIT-LCE Global Entrepreneurship Conference at LUMS brought together a dynamic community of entrepreneurs, academics, students, investors, and influential figures.
CIMPA School at LUMS – Fostering a global community for mathematical excellence
The Department of Mathematics at LUMS has been designated as the Emerging Regional Centre of Excellence (ERCE) for its significant contributions to the promotion of mathematics in the region. This recognition has been conferred by the Commission of Developing Countries of the European Mathematical Sciences, acknowledging LUMS as a leading institution in fostering mathematical education and research in the region.
Leveraging its international standing, the Department of Mathematics is hosting the prestigious CIMPA Research School on Algebra and Algebraic Geometry for Applications, scheduled from February 26 to March 8, 2024.

LUMS Students and Recruiters Network at Annual Career Fair 2024
Ranked at top in graduate employability in Pakistan by QS Employability Rankings, 95% of LUMS 2022 graduates were employed within 6 months. The dedicated efforts of the LUMS Career Services Office (CSO) and University’s 1,800 strong network of recruiting partners plays a pivotal role in this. The Annual Career Fair, hosted by the CSO, is instrumental in connecting leading employers with LUMS’ diverse population of students from various disciplines. Over 200 nationally and internationally reputed organisations participated this year at the LUMS Annual Career Fair 2024 to engage with 1000+ students.
Jointly funded E-Mobility center at LUMS aims to drive electric vehicle innovation in Pakistan
The E-Mobility Research and Development Center, established at the Syed Babar Ali School of Science and Engineering on LUMS’ Lahore campus, was inaugurated. This center, jointly funded by the United States government and Lahore University of Management Sciences, aimed to promote the widespread use of electric vehicles in Pakistan by supporting advancements in locally designed electric vehicles, battery solutions, associated electronics, and technical standards.
