To transform bulk cargo handling at Karachi Port, the Karachi Gateway Terminal Multipurpose (KGTML), signed an agreement with a Chinese company for the procurement of high-capacity automated bulk handling equipment.
Chairman Karachi Port Trust, Rear Admiral Shahid Ahmed SI (M) S. Bt (Retd), witnessed the signing ceremony between KGTML and GENMA, a global Chinese leader.
Under this agreement, KGTML will install two unloaders (800 TPH) and two loaders (1000 TPH), significantly enhancing throughput, reducing vessel turnaround time, minimizing cargo spillage, and improving safety and environmental performance at Karachi Port.
Chairman KPT, at the occasion, appreciated the collaboration and highlighted its role in boosting overall cargo handling and future terminal development at the port.
With this investment, KGTML claimed to become Pakistan’s first dedicated and automated bulk export facility, strengthening the country’s export capability, lowering logistics costs, and improving supply chain reliability for domestic industries.
