Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has unveiled the province’s largest-ever business finance initiative. The CM announced an allocation of over Rs.84 billion for the Punjab Easy Business Finance Scheme and more than Rs.48 billion for the Punjab Easy Business Card Scheme. A substantial portion of these funds, exceeding Rs.36 billion, will be used to offer interest-free loans to eligible individuals. These loans, amounting to up to Rs.1 million each, are expected to benefit over 30 million people in Punjab.
Maryam Nawaz highlighted that the loans will be repaid in easy monthly installments over five years, ensuring accessibility and convenience for borrowers. The scheme is inclusive, extending eligibility to men, women, transgenders, and special individuals aged between 25 and 55 years, provided they are residents of Punjab. She further explained that being an active tax filer and not having defaulted on any financial obligations are prerequisites for eligibility.
The CM said that applications for the Easy Business Finance Scheme can be submitted online at akf.punjab.gov.pk. She stated that the Easy Business Card Scheme offers interest-free loans of up to Rs.1 million for startups and small businesses, repayable in easy monthly installments over three years. She stated that men, women, transgender individuals, and special persons residing in Punjab are eligible to apply for the Easy Business Card at akc.punjab.gov.pk.
She highlighted that the card allows payments to vendors for raw materials, government fees, taxes, and utility bills. Additionally, users can withdraw up to 25 percent cash through the card.
The CM was briefed that a dedicated toll-free number, 1786, has been activated to guide applicants of the Easy Business Finance Scheme. She was informed that applicants can call this number for information regarding the scheme. The CM emphasized, “We aim to encourage youth for self-employment and believe that providing employment opportunities after education is also the government’s responsibility.”
CM Maryam Nawaz stated, “Every youth of Punjab will contribute significantly to improving the economy through the Easy Business Finance Scheme. This scheme will enhance the economy by boosting exports.”
