Car prices in Pakistan have surged in 2025 due to rising inflation, currency depreciation, and new tax policies. The latest federal budget has triggered a wave of price hikes across Pakistan’s auto sector. From compact hatchbacks to hybrid SUVs, nearly every category has been affected by increased taxes and levies.
Hybrid car buyers are facing sticker shock as the GST on these models has jumped from 8.5% to 18%. This change alone has added over Rs. 1.4 million to the price of some popular hybrids, making them less accessible to eco-conscious consumers.
Mid-Range Cars Now Costlier Vehicles with engine capacities between 1300cc and 1800cc are now subject to a 2% Green Tax, pushing up prices for models like the Toyota Corolla and Honda Civic. The added cost is expected to shift demand toward smaller or used vehicles.
Small Cars No Longer Budget-Friendly Even entry-level cars like the Suzuki Alto have seen price increases due to a GST hike from 12.5% to 18%. The once-affordable segment is now feeling the pinch, with some variants costing over Rs. 160,000 more.
Market Outlook With affordability shrinking and taxes rising, the auto industry anticipates a slowdown in new car sales. Consumers may increasingly turn to used cars or financing options to cope with the rising cost of ownership.
